V_Savinsky:

Hi guys.  This question is mostly to onewithzachy

I just started with this patform. I was using eSignal datafeeds 15 min delay for stocks on another platform(as apayd service). Does anyone knows how can I connect Metatrader5 to data feed provider of European stocks?

1. Find a broker that trade European stocks, maybe you can find it here for a start http://www.forexpeacearmy.com/public/forex_broker_reviews and http://www.forexfactory.com/forumdisplay.php?f=74. The data can be use for backtesting.

2. Or using what FinGer mention above (http://www.mql5.com/en/forum/7028#comment_217505 - if you can, write the code yourself, coz I hate promoting commercial product in forum ;) ), but that way, the data can not be used for backtesting :(

Switch broker.
Your broker doesn't support the kind of trading you would like to make.

You have obviously just started working with MT5.
You will need to read lots of documentation in order to understand changes in concept between MT4 and MT5.
But go on, as it is worth it. To me at least. :)

Please use SRC button and edit your post. Write the code completely (how big is the Expmedia variable ?), do error checking, execute ArraySetAsSeries before CopyBuffer() and not after it,

Sorry, I wasn't clear enough :(. This is SRC button, I'll edit your post then.

Trading Signals Have Been Introduced in MetaTrader 4 Client Terminal

For a lossing EA, if we reverse all the trades (Old buy becomes New sell, vice versa), will the new system be profitable?

  • For an ordinary bad EA, if you reverse it, it will most likely to be a loser again.
  • Only for extremely bad EA (<1% maybe), after reversing it will become a winning EA.
  • One of the most important reason for most EA, no matter reverse or not, to be losers is the spread. Spread eats lot of profit!
  • It is NOT an easy job to build a winning EA. I guess less than 1 percent of all EA ever developed are winning EA.

how do i get signals to work?

tubal:

Hi,

I use windows, I click things, are you saying I need to open a command line and type mt5setup /32  I don't see a place after I double click on the icon to make it

install the 32 bit version.  If it is not a 64 bit program, and/or if 64 bit doesn't work, why do they make the 64 bit installer.  Please tell me where you are typing

this mt5setup /32... I don't get it, when I buy windows 8 do I need to buy the 32 bit version or the 64 bit version.  I typed in mt5setup as you suggested and it

says mt5setup is not recognized.  Is there a customer support somewhere ?

Press Windows logo  key and R key at the same time, to make Run window to appear. Browse to where your mt5 executable setup is located and click it. Add "/32" to the end of line, with or without double quotes, and click OK or press enter.

MT5 64 run well in Windows 7/64 bit. It just that there are few users who has problem running MT5 64 in Windows 7/64.

Problems with placing market orders - Invalid stops

$

Hi,

You should always specify the buy/sell price.

You can get it using MqlTick structure and SymolTick function to copy the last quotes inot the structure.

Invalid stops error might be caused by the execution type of your broker. Some brokers (ECN) do not allow placing SL/TP together with the opening order. In this case you should perform your deal in 2 steps.

1. You open a position WITHOUT sl and tp

2. You put your SL and TP using another order send request. (TRADE_ACTION_SLTP)

Hope it helps.

Andrey.

Do you need brokers list which include their name, server IP, timezone, decimal (4/5), Instruments(forex/stock/future/options) ?

How about another info like brokerage type (ECN, Market Maker etc), Payment Method, Terminal Platform, Allow/disallow EA-Scalping, and others. This additional information, I think, also needed.

New article Alexander Anufrenko: "A danger foreseen is half avoided" (ATC 2010) is published:

The risky development of Alexander Anufrenko (Anufrenko321) had been featured among the top three of the Championship for three weeks. Having suffered a catastrophic Stop Loss last week, his Expert Advisor lost about $60,000, but now once again he is approaching the leaders. In this interview the author of this interesting EA is describing the operating principles and characteristics of his application.

The first question is traditional, Alexander: How have you come into the world of automated trading?

Frankly speaking, I am a newbie. I've been interested in Forex for several years, and about a half a year ago I got acquainted with automated trading. My friend from Minsk who has long been working with it "dragged" me into there. He told me that it's interesting and profitable. In Brest it is poorly developed. But I studied in the Belarusian State Economic University, so I'm not very far from it. I'm a venturesome person. Closer to the Championship I began to study the program more actively. Naturally, I wanted to try my luck.

As for my relationship with the computer, I would call myself a confident user, that is I use many programs, and I have some idea about programming. Your website is very useful - it contains various articles and ready-made codes. I believe you strive to ensure that everyone can enjoy your product. Having an idea about programming, you can understand the code, change criteria in the blocks and create your own system. I believe there will be more participants in the next Championships - new Expert Advisors will be published in the Code Base, modifying which you can get your own system. And it's great, that's what robots are needed for - it's like you don't have to know thoroughly all the principles of a computer to be able to use it. Specifically I visited the website when learning MQL4: when I needed to consider a separate command, I found its detailed description (at the time MQL5 was slightly raw, it seemed to me). I didn't have much difficulty in learning the new language, because I worked most with articles and blocks, not with separate commands. And I am not an expert in programming, but it is not necessary for the Championship, I think.

Why did you choose the one-minute timeframe?

I thought it was the most volatile of all, with promising probabilities of earning. But I think that it is not so important - I could work also with one-hour timeframe, or even a 4-hour one, as the entry time is closer to hour or even 4-hours. Now I would probably reconsider this position and correlate the entry with the exit. But as they say, "a danger foreseen is half avoided". Although, probably then everything would have been different.
